Ce classement nous permet de mieux appréhender la grande variété des sujets traités par le cinéma indien. Cette liste est un point de départ. Elle ne prétend pas être exhaustive et elle compte sur tous les passionnés pour grandir et s'affiner…

Elle ne prétend pas être exhaustive et elle compte sur tous les passionnés pour grandir et s'affiner. Nous avons pris la liberté d'inclure dans cette liste des films comme Fish and Chips ou Just a Kiss, qui font intervenir des pakistanais plutôt que des indiens sur des thématiques qui leur sont souvent communes comme les marriages arrangés, les difficultés liées à l'immigration où les problématiques religieuses.
Par défaut les films sont en hindi. Les films en d'autres langues sont repérés par des initiales qui en suivent leur titre comme : Anglais (EN) - Panjabi (PB) - Tamoul (TA) - Bengali (BE)
Un film peut être classé dans sous un thème sans que ce soit le thème principal de l'histoire, du moment qu'il s'agit d'un thème important du film. Certains films font partie de plusieurs catégories. Il est aussi possible qu'un film ne soit pas dans une catégorie alors qu'il le devrait.
